Concentric Invitation Suite
These beautiful drawings are modern reproductions from a rare book, “Curious Mathematical Forms,” by Robert Boyle. Besides the date, 1670, the book contains very little information. The concentric forms are thought to have been created by some kind of mechanical drawing instrument. Although Boyle is most famous as one of the founders of modern chemistry, he regarded the acquisition of knowledge as an end in itself, and his studies spanned many subjects, including air, sound, crystals, electricity, magnetism, medicine, and color.
